Effects of Race on Economic Outcomes

Comparison of Economic Outcomes of Foreign-Born (FB) of Color and Foreign-Born (FB) White New Yorkers

This comparative analysis shows the disparities between foreign-born of color and foreign-born Whites. Both groups are English proficient. There are three levels of comparative analysis: Those who are high school diploma holders and below; those who have some college and and/or associate degree and those who have bachelor’s degree of above. The comparative analysis shows outcomes for 7 indicators: income, unemployment, poverty, working poor, full time work, homeownership, and rent burden. For each comparison, we show the difference between outcomes of the two groups. A comparison between these two groups seeks to illuminate any disparities that exist for New Yorkers who are similar in productive assets yet differ in their racial composition.
