Comparison of outcomes of foreign-born and native-born New Yorkers.

The analysis presented here evaluates the experiences of English-proficient native-born and immigrant New Yorkers across multiple socioeconomic indicators. Comparisons are provided for three education levels: high school diploma or less, some college or an associate degree, and bachelor’s degree or higher. Seven benchmarks—income, unemployment, poverty, working poverty, full-time work, homeownership, and rent burden—are used to assess outcomes. Examining these groups side by side helps uncover disparities that persist among residents with comparable educational credentials.
